From the Author
Dear Friend-
I’m so honored that you read my story.
Growing up in an abusive and neglectful home left me feeling the things you read in Queenie’s story–worthless, unlovable and wishing I was invisible. One of the worst feelings I had was that I was completely alone in the world. Have you ever felt that way?
A few years ago a friend and I were talking about our rough childhoods and I said, “Wouldn’t it have been cool if we knew each other back then? It wouldn’t have changed things at home but at least we wouldn’t have been alone.” My friend agreed.
After that Queenie’s story was born.
I want kids who have struggles at home to know you are worthy of love just the way you are and you are not alone.
My dream is that you find each other like Queenie and King did. Please remember to be patient with and kind to each other since we don’t know what someone is going through at home.
I want adult children survivors to also know that it is possible to reconnect with our inner child, heal and find peace.
I hope we all find even one person with whom we can safely take off our masks, play and share our stories.
I also long for conversations about how we all can make this a safer, more loving, kind and accepting world for our children so they may learn how to protect, love, be kind to and accepting of themselves and each other.
To all who have ever felt broken, unlovable, empty, hopeless, helpless, worthless or alone like me,
I LOVE YOU JUST THE WAY YOU ARE.
My greatest wish is for you to learn to love you just the way you are and to become your own BFF. Then, when you’re ready, you will help others learn how to love themselves just the way they are.
With All of My Heart
